Gordon Bennet you darned old gut wrencher you!!!!!! I bet you even paid for the trees to be planted 7 years ago and employed an arborial trainer just to make sure of this one. Anyone with an ounce of care for my susceptibility to emotional upheaval and nostalgia generated "Angst" would have used a polariser. But not you!! You just went ahead and committed the act. You probably even paid the barge captain to slow down a bit and shed cargo to lift his profile just above the railing.

Great photo (though a lot of noise), but I like the graphical effect and the contrast 'strict lines' and nature's lines, the trees. And you among them.

april - I'm glad you like it but you are right! Lots of NOISE. I think I twiddled the knobs too much - need to be more careful in future

I'll add more... it's VOLUNTARY noise.
Not enough has been said about making noise about nothing (although I think an olde author by the name of Shakespierce or something might have brushed on the subject)

It's conceptual noise. See Richard's comment on conceptual art in Avignon today.

"Boring images of street intersections elevated beyond belief..." Yes, that's what conceptual marketing is about. I hope it was clear enough that I think the same?

I have to agree with Chuckeroon that lots of forward planning has obviously gone into it. Seven years seem just right.

Ca, je connais bien ces arbres et cette promenade au bord du Rhin, souvent je l'ai parcourue sous un parapluie.
Ce que je trouve remarquable ici, je me trompe peut-être c'est que lorsque la lumière manque, dans l'emprise de l'ombre, et pourtant il pleut, c'est là que la façade est la plus apparente et la plus nette. Parce qu'alors il n'y a pas de reflet.
C'est le contraire d'habitude : l'ombre dissimule par temps de soleil.
Je dois avouer que pour finir, je suis très troublée et ai du mal à comprendre cette image.

Cergie - the reflections are indeed rather odd, but probably because the bottom three panes are reflecting and the top one is transparent because of the shadow of the canopy. But of course that is why I took it - for it's oddity
