Friedhof Fluntern

The first time I have been around this cemetery when there has been snow on the ground. For the living it takes on a completely different feeling. For the dead, including this pair - mother and daughter I guess - and their neighbour James Joyce, it makes no difference.

I thought your Swiss readers might be interested in the post I did today for my website. It is about a Swiss woman who lived in Costa Rica until she passed away a few years ago. She cared for injured, orphaned wildlife, especially jaguars and other members of the cat family. People brought her animals that needed care, and at one point she had as many as 160 animals. Her Las Pumas Rescue Center continues today, after her passing, in part due to the continued financial support of her family. That is her epitaph.

By the way, my wife and I love Zurich. We have been there three times, including coming there for New Year's several years ago. We had our New Year's Eve dinner at the Hotel Storchen and watched the fireworkds from its balcony.

There's nothing like a touch of grey stone and concrete when you want to liven things up a bit, is there. (I do like the goldish tone of the lichen, etc)

Well Chuckeroon can always add a bit can't he! ha I liked the lichen tones as well. How long did it take to find the Frosts on the tombstones??? Amazing. A poignant photo nevertheless.

David - thanks for the info. (This year it was so foggy you might not even have seen the fireworks from the Storchen)

Frost! Thanks for guiding me to this cemetery when I visited Zürich last year! It's really a beautiful one, even in summer colours!

They look like little Russian soldiers standing in the snow.
