San Giorgio Maggiore

There are several iconic views which immediately identify Venice. The Rialto Bridge, the Campanile, Basilica and Doges Palace, S. Maria della Salute from the Piazzeta or Accademia Bridge. I like this one, Palladio's masterpiece floating on the lagoon. However I've come to realise that it's not a Venice icon alone. There are many similar views of island basilica. I particularly remember a lot of scenes like this from holidays on the Dalmatian coast - not far from here actually.

Yeah, I heard there a lot of nice spots on the Dalmatian coast.

Somehow reminds me of one of my photos (see post 10/12). We must have been on the same spot at the same moment!

I still have to make the tour of the Dalmatian coast!

My that sky is magnificent. Like the way the church does seem to be floating. Maybe I could capture lovely photos like this but am never willing to be an early riser in order to do just that.

Now I remember the circumstances so well. All three of us standing on the quay (or sitting sometimes) and shooting like mad at that sunset scene! Great memories. Wonderful.

And your photo turned out great. Interesting to see that you chose that one and cropped it that way. I had to sift through about 12 of my own so I definitely know about the decision-making process you have to go through.

Interesting comment you make about how the photo will come out so differently on people's computers. Another good reason to stick to B&W? You're good at finding good reasons, aren't you? LOL

I like the pink-blue colour scheme you chose. The colour treatment could have gone the other way, on the orangy side, but I believe you made the right choice (at least that's how it comes out on my computer LOL !!!)
